LifeGift’s Tissue Recovery Team Wins Top Award!
February 14, 2023Tissue donation and transplantation saves and heals lives. Recently, LifeGift’s tissue team received one of LifeNet Health’s most coveted awards. Thirty-seven tissue recovery organizations were evaluated, and LifeGift received the Trophy Belt for Fresh Tissue with 0% contamination.
To celebrate this recognition, LifeGift’s tissue team members received Trophy Belt Winner T-shirts. In addition, the Trophy Belt was shared with each LifeGift office in all three service areas. This is the second year LifeGift has won LifeNet Health’s Trophy Belt. LifeGift previously was awarded with two Trophy Belts in 2020 for Fresh Tissue and ViviGen tissue.
“LifeNet Health is a wonderful partner and we’re honored to receive this recognition for the hard work and dedication of our team members this past year,” says Emmitt Savannah, LifeGift manager of tissue recovery and research training. “Most importantly, this award is a beautiful tribute to the heroic donors that have provided these healing gifts.”
Fresh Osteochondral Allografts are used for reconstruction procedures to repair articular cartilage and subchondral bone defects, which allow orthopedic surgeons to transplant mature hyaline cartilage with viable chondrocytes and subchondral bone into the recipients’ damaged articular surfaces.
Tissues recovered for transplantation include ligaments, tendons, skin, bone, heart valves, nerves, arteries and veins. Donated tissue restores mobility and strength, saves lives and provides hope to thousands of people. It can help bone cancer and burn survivors, patients needing heart valves, or those with torn ligaments, women needing breast reconstruction surgery and so much more.
